Arts are powerful skills that are unleashed when certain skills are combined in a specific order during an extended attack.
If you unleash an Art while the target is in a Break State, what is known as a "Break Art" will be executed. Break Arts are more powerful versions of Arts and inflict more damage and have higher hit counts. Break Arts can only be unleashed by using Arts.

Absolute Terror is bugged on the US 360 version at least. The range of 5 with a 2 space radius displayed on the ability page doesn't function that way. It is a 2 space radius centered on the user of Shadow Attack, not on the target. This can cause you to consume AP without the attacks being performed if the character using Shadow Attack is not within 2 spaces of any valid target.
By combining extra skills in a specific way, you can execute extremely powerfull skills called "Special Arts". Special Arts are activated in the same manner as Arts. While Arts can be executed by a single character, Special Arts require the extra skills of multiple characters. Special Arts do a great deal more damage and inflict more detrimental effects on enemies than regular Arts and are an excellent way to overcome and defeat powerful enemies such as bosses. For the best results try using Arts to increase the hit count before your Special Art is executed. A higher hit count means bigger damage so try to get in as many hits as you possibly can before you execute a Special.
New to the game are Distinctive Arts, Special Arts performed by characters from both Record of Agarest War and Record of Agarest War Zero.
